Firm of Port Authority Chairman Chosen as Bond Counsel by Developer That Got Sandy Funds For Luxury Building

Boraie selected Wolff Samson to serve as bond counsel for the EDA to finance their Newark building.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ law firms connected to allies of Gov. cheap nfl jerseys Chris Christie have been working with Boraie Development, a city based developer that received millions in state funding, tax incentives, and government loans.

As we reported last month, a controversial $4.8M chunk of federal disaster recovery funds were given to Boraie for a luxury highrise on Somerset Street in wholesale nfl jerseys New Brunswick, a project that had been approved months before Hurricane Sandy struck.

On a preliminary application seeking $5 million in tax exempt bonds for a development project in Newark, Boraie Development listed Wolff Samson as the project bond counsel. Chris Christie, Samson firm has seen its business skyrocket.

Unlike the New Brunswick project, where Boraie has promised to rent 48 of the building 238 units at affordable rates, the EDA approved a "stand alone bond" for the Newark project and did not require that the building offer any affordable units.

The Newark highrise, which will contain 169 luxury apartments, broke ground just days after the Somerset Street project in New Brunswick. wholesale jerseys Both Boraie projects were among 15 residential developments statewide that received millions in tax credits from the EDA as well.

In July 2010, the EDA approved $19.9 million in tax credits for the New Brunswick project. But development stalled, and EDA officials told NJBIZ in January 2012 that they had extended deadlines to give Boraie "more time so its project would not add to the traffic impact" of other nearby construction projects.

In March 2012, the EDA approved millions in additional tax credits to the Somerset Street building, bringing the total to $23.8 million. One month later, they upped the award for tax credits on the Newark project from $13.4 million to $20.7 million.

The $4.8 million in Sandy money was quietly appropriated in 2013, shortly before the project broke ground. Davis played the all important role of bond counsel for the EDA in the multi million dollar government loan wholesale nfl jerseys to build a highrise apartment building on the site of a former high school in Newark.

"At the time an application is submitted for the issuance of bonds, applicants must select a firm from the EDA list to act as Bond Counsel for their project," explained Oliva.

The list consists of 21 approved firms, including Wolff Samson. Though the bond counsel represents the EDA, they are selected and paid for by the applicant, Boraie Development.

"You will need to speak with Boraie to find out how [Wolff Samson] was selected," said Oliva.

Reached by telephone on February 3, Boraie Development Vice President Samer Boraie declined to answer any questions about the developer selection of attorneys. Samson recused himself when it came time to vote for the deal that he had championed.

Meanwhile, Christie confidant Bill Palatucci told New Brunswick Today that he was not involved in representing Boraie Development, but confirmed that his firm, Gibbons PC, has represented the developer for years.

"I have not/do not represent the company," said Palatucci, a personal friend who has been allied with Christie for over a decade. "The company has been a client of the firm since before I arrived and represented by other attorneys."

Gibbons lobbies the NJ Legislature and Governor on behalf of several big name clients including Visa, the NFL Philadelphia Eagles, the Monmouth County government, and several NJ hospitals.

Palatucci, wholesale jerseys Christie former law partner, is widely considered one of the Governor most trusted advisors.

"There is probably nobody more important to Chris Christie political operation than Bill Palatucci," former Republican party chairman Jay Webber told the National Review.

Before being hired by Gibbons, Palatucci was a Vice President at Community Education Centers, a controversial private prison company that Christie has supported despite sharp criticism.

charged with sexual assault in Arizona

NFL star Darren Sharper charged with sexual assault in Arizona

(CNN) Former NFL star chi hair products Darren Sharper has been charged in another sexual assault case this time in Arizona.

A grand jury in Tempe indicted Sharper on two counts of sexual assault and three counts of administering dangerous drugs relating to an incident alleged to have happened on November 21, Tempe police said Wednesday. So far, he has been charged only in California and Arizona.

New Orleans police have issued an arrest warrant for Sharper, who is in custody in Los chi flat iron website Angeles and is scheduled to attend an extradition hearing Thursday.

Another man accused in the New Orleans case, Erik Nunez, was charged last week with two counts of aggravated rape and released on $400,000 bail Monday, CNN affiliate WVUE reported.

"I'm more than sure that when it's all said and done, he'll be vindicated," his attorney Jeffrey chi flat iron Smith told the station.

The application for the arrest warrant states that New Orleans detectives interviewed two women who said they were raped on September 23. The two accusers told police they were so impaired that they don't recall "the entirety of the sexual intercourse," and that they never agreed to have sex.

The document describes how a friend came to the apartment and saw Sharper in his underwear and chi hair straighteners Nunez exiting Sharper's bedroom in just his boxer shorts.

Police said through further investigation they found other witnesses who told them Sharper and Nunez admitted to sexual acts without the women's permission or knowledge.

In February, Sharper pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles court to charges of rape by use of drugs, furnishing a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, all felonies. His attorneys said he maintains any sex was consensual. chi hair dryer

In addition, a Florida woman last month filed a sexual battery complaint in Miami Beach against Sharper relating to a 2012 incident, a police report said.

According to the report, the woman was with chi flat iron official website two friends at a Miami Beach club in September or October 2012 when she met Sharper. The woman, her friends and another person went to Sharper's condo, where the woman claims the battery took place.

Miami Beach police are investigating the case, Miami Beach Detective Vivian Hernandez said last month.

NFL NFL Jerseys Wholesale Fantasy Football Week 6 RB Report

NFL NFL Jerseys Wholesale Fantasy Football Week 6 RB Report

I was shocked to see how poorly Turner performed here against an Eagles defense that lost top run stopper Broderick Bunkley for the year. Turner wont catch passes as usually so when he doesn't run for big yardage or score you have a problem on your hands. That's why I never have Turner on any of my teams. Since I am in a PPR setup, the risky is very high when it comes to Turner.

LeSean McCoy: 21 carries for 64 yards along with 4 catches for 21 yards. I spoke highly of McCoy in the preseason but I didn't follow my own advice when I drafted Jamaal Charles over him in my PPR money league draft. The man is Brian Westbrook reincarnated and even though he didn't run well, he still saved his day with the receptions and additional yardage gained from it.

Rashard Mendenhall: 27 carries for 84 yards with 1 TD along with 3 catches for 15 yards. The Steelers have been overworking Mendenhall so far this season and that could be a concern later on when it possibly could wear down during the fantasy football playoffs. Something to keep in mind. Still he is the real deal and has been very solid throughout.

Peyton Hillis: 12 carries for 41 yards along with 6 catches for 49 yards. Hillis has been a much more valuable receiver than runner lately but either way the guy has been some find. No one was one his radar including yours truly when the season began but he is playing well and has been Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale a huge asset in PPR. If non PPR leagues however try to trade him while his value is high.

Marshawn Lynch: 17 carries for 44 yards with 1 TD along with 3 catches for 9 yards. Not the debut fantasy football owners were expected but he did a little of everything including scoring a TD. Lynch is a great receiver which is something the Bills strangely didn't take advantage of after his rookie year so he will help in PPR the rest of the season. However Justin Forsett got 10 carries for it looks like a 70 30 split in carries right now which hurts his overall value.

Matt Forte: 8 carries for 11 yards with 1 TD along with 3 catches for 40 yards. After busting out last week, Forte was right back to the low yard per carry back he had been since last season. The guy is really frustrating to own and he only be played in PPR leagues right now.

Ronnie Brown: 19 carries for 73 yards along with 1 catch for 2 yards. Brown is another guy who always leaves you wanting more. He has a ton of talent but injuries and the presence of Ricky Williams conspire to keep his numbers down. At this point he has fallen all the way down to RB 3 status.

Brandon Jackson: 12 carries for 53 yards along with 3 catches for 29 yards. He is looking a little like Matt Forte in that he catches the ball well but doesn't do enough in the running game. Trade rumors continue to swirl in Green Bay about getting Marion Barber so Jackson is really nothing but bench help right now.

Jahvid Best: 12 carries for 16 yards along with 6 catches for 31 yards. You might as well throw Best into the Forte/Jackson grouping. Another guy that hasn't run the ball well but has done great in the passing game. Best is a threat to take it to the house whenever he touches the ball but other than in Week Cheap Hats 2, he hasn't made many big plays. The toe could still be an issue but the fact of the matter is that Best has taken his fantasy football owners on a roller coaster ride this season. Try and trade him in TD heavy leagues.

Ahmad Bradshaw: 19 carries for 133 yards along with 2 catches for 10 yards. Bradshaw on the other hand is a smallish back that is running the ball great and he is having a tremendous season. His value is much more pronounced in PPR as Brandon Jacobs continues to steal the goal line TD's so like Best, it might be a good idea to try and get a more all around back in TD heavy leagues using Bradshaw as bait. After such a huge game now is the time to strike. In PPR he has been golden.

Christopher Ivory: 15 carries for 158 yards along with 1 catch for 17 yards. Wow what a game. That came out of nowhere. Not sure what to make of this but for now he is worth a look since there is no telling when Pierre Thomas will get back. He is not much of a receiver so those in PPR can take a pass.

Carnell Williams: 10 carries for 18 yards with 1 fumble along with 7 catches for 63 yards. Williams has been one of the wort rushing backs in the league this year but the had a nice receiving game. He is not worth the aggravation though.

Ryan Matthews: 12 carries for 64 yards along with 3 catches for 12 yards. The problem here is the fact that Mike Tolbert got the goal line carry for the score and that should continue which hurts his value tremendously in TD heavy leagues. Even in PPR formats, Matthews cant be looked at as anything more than a RB 3. I warned you all in preseason not to be the guy who was drafting him late first round or early second and this is why.

Steven Jackson: 29 carries for 109 yards with 1 TD along with 1 catch for 2 yards. Jackson once caught over 90 passes in a season but he hasn't come close to that since. He is not the slam dunk PPR machine he was after that lone season but he still is very good. His offense doesn't help him much but I am still a fan.

Thomas Jones: 19 carries for 100 yards with 1 TD along with 1 catch for 10 yards. Jones is still splitting carries with Jamaal Charles evenly but this is a game he had to have or else he was going to be left behind due to the string of good game the latter was having lately. Jones is still only for TD heavy leagues and is not much more Cheap NFL Jerseys than a RB 3 there.

Jamaal Charles: 16 carries for 93 yards along with 4 catches for 24 yards. I really regret drafting this guy and it has nothing to do with his ability. Namely it has to do with coach Todd Haley and the presence of RB Thomas Jones. Charles has only 1 TD this year and that came in week 1 and he is not catching enough passes to stay a sure fire every week starter. He is running very well but for now is a low end RB 2.

Arian Foster: 18 carries for 71 yards with 2 TD along with 6 catches for 26 yards. Foster was a monster once again after struggling last week against the Giants. He is a high end PPR back and a decent TD heavy one. All in he arguably is the best value in fantasy football this year.

Ray Rice: 28 carries for 88 yards Cheap Snapbacks Hats along with 8 catches for 38 yards. Yes he didn't score but Rice was once again all over the map in fantasy football points. He has passed Maurice Jones Drew in my book with his performance the last two weeks and he is in for a huge second half.

Danny Woodhead: 11 carries for 63 yards along with 5 catches for 52 yards. Keep an eye on Woodhead in PPR leagues as he out carried Ben Jarvis Green Ellis and was a nice weapon in the passing game. He was the leading rusher in D III history for a reason so the talent is there. Give it another week before you make the add.

Frank Gore: 25 carries for 149 yards with no catches. Gore has been superb this season and in PPR it can be argued that he has been the best RB in fantasy football. He ran the ball well all game but surprisingly didn't register a reception which is rare. He has been as good as advertised.

Michael Bush: 20 carries for 47 yards along with 2 catches for 12 yards. Bush got his second straight start as Darren McFadden sat out with injury but he wasn't very good. Bush has proven himself to Wholesale Snapbacks Hats be a very capable overall back so this was just a bad game. McFadden should be back soon so he is not worth adding if he is sitting out there. Good for injury insurance if you own McFadden however.

Knowshon Moreno: 12 carries for 48 yards with 1 fumble. Moreno got back into action after missing three weeks and ran all right. He didn't register a catch and overall didn't supply much bang but he figures to get more work each week. He has been a huge bust to this point however but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing if you can get him cheap from the impatient owner that has grown tired with his act.

LaDainian Tomlinson: 16 carries for 55 yards with 2 TD's along with 2 catches for 12 yards. Tomlinson has been money and is rewarding those fantasy +football owners who took a shot with him this season off the worst year of his career. He could wear down as we approach the fantasy football playoffs like he has the last two years so my advice would be to see what you can get for him. Don't give him away but if you can package him with something else for a Ryan Torain, Ahmad Bradshaw, or Joseph Addai I would do it.

Adrian Peterson: 24 carries for 73 yards with 1 TD along with 1 catch for 2 yards. Wasn't vintage Peterson but the TD helped avoid a whiteout start. I wont complain because he is so good there is nothing to worry about.

Felix Jones: 14 carries for 32 yards along with 10 catches for yards. Coach Wade Phillips was true to word to start Jones and he outcarried Marion Barber by four carries. He is ultra talented and I have always been high on him so keep putting him out there in PPR leagues but keep him on the bench in TD leagues as Barber should continue getting the TD's.

Joseph Addai: 17 carries for 128 yards with 1 TD along with 1 fumble. In the preseason I spoke very highly about how Addai reshaped his game after a few disappointing seasons. He has been very good all year and has turned himself into a upper tier receiver at the spot. He left with another injury to his shoulder so watch his status all week.

Ryan Torain: 20 carries for 100 yards with 2 TD's along with 1 catch for 9 yards. I was one of the lucky ones to pick Torain up off waivers and am enjoying the spoils. He looks like the perfect fit in coach Mike Shannahan's scheme and he even has thrown in some receptions to boot. The word is out on him so don't even think you can lowball any fantasy football owner for him now.
